Membership Acceptance

American Board of Sport Psychology

 MEMBERSHIP CONFIRMATION: TERM:

We are pleased to inform you that you have been approved for Membership in the American Board of Sport Psychology.

We must again reiterate that MEMBERSHIP does not imply that one is Board Certified in Sport Psychology.  The Board Certified in Sport Psychology credential must be attained/earned by completing the rigorous ABSP training program. Eligible MEMBERS can enroll in our certification programs with a significant tuition discount. MEMBERS may not attach ABSP to their Name and Title line in correspondence/email or any internet posting.

For example: John Smith Ph.D., ABSP is not permitted; such can convey the impression that one is Board Certified.

Membership can be stated as follows:

John Smith, Ph.D.

ABSP: Professional Member

or

Jane Smith

ABSP: Student Member

MEMBERSHIP is not a PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIAL and in NO WAY SHOULD BE USED TO MARKET ONE’S SERVICES

The purpose of MEMBERSHIP is to convey that one is interested in ABSP Evidence-Based Applied Sport Psychology Mental Game Protocols and wants to promote such to clients, colleagues, athletes and the public in general. Members can pursue continuing education in ABSP Sport Psychology and are eligible/permitted to apply certain assessments and procedures under the supervision of an ABSP: Board Certified Sport Psychologist or Consultants.

Members accept and adhere to legal title and scope of practice laws and ABSP and APA codes of ethics. Member benefits are listed in the MEMBERS APPLICATION that you signed when submitting the ABSP Contact form.

We look forward to having you as a member.

Roland A. Carlstedt, Ph.D., LP, ABSP, Chairman and Chief Sport Psychologist
